Weekly Devotional Helps, July 27-August 2

Food has become a bigger conversation piece the past few months. Normally you could find pictures of food on social media from unique and trendy restaurants. Now we think twice about running to the store, and we pray that they have the staples we need. If we have enough money, we wonder if the store will have everything on our list. For more and more people, there isn’t money to buy the food they once ate. We even see food banks running out of food. May we look to the One who does deliver daily bread, but we can’t forget that our Savior is the Bread of Life. In Holy Communion, we receive the body and blood of Christ that delivers the forgiveness of sins purchased and won for us.

Collect for the Ninth Sunday after Pentecost–

Heavenly Father, though we do not deserve Your goodness, still You provide for all our needs of body and soul. Amen.

From The Daily Prayers- Morning Prayer- I thank You, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your dear Son, that You have kept me this night from all harm and danger; and I pray that You would keep me this day also from sin and every evil, that all my doing and life may please You. For into Your hands I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let Your holy angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me. Amen. (Kindergarten +)

Do children matter? I am assuming that you would say that they do! “Think of the children!” is a mantra that has permeated our culture. My prayer is that we think of the children that are both inside
